Our Recycling on the go bins have been out for a year and a half. With a tonne and a half of recycling already collected. We have 12 bins placed all around the island and they have stopped this tonne and a half going to landfill on Mull. These bins are placed at key areas around the island, where people will have litter they want to dispose of. We placed these beside general waste bins for 2 reasons, the first is that usually if people have a bottle or can, they usually have other waste they wish to get rid of, the 2nd is that it has been proven that this cuts down on contamination of recyclate. We are very pleased to say that our contamination levels have been very low to date.
